Environmental auditing in management systems and public policy

Article Abstract:

An environmental auditing application, which embodies an incentive compensation scheme, was proved efficient in optimizing wages and natural resources consumption. The proposed system confirmed the assumption that a greater range of wage is likely to result from the implementation of an environmental auditing system, provided that agents dominate their aversion to risks. It was also revealed that the integration of environmental auditing in management systems can actually motivate managers to focus more on environmental motives and other traditional tasks.

Managerial incentives and environmental compliance

Article Abstract:

A study on management incentives to enforceenvironmental policy was conducted using a multi-task principal-agent model. The incentives are wage increases following greater environmental policy enforcement. Results indicate that monetary reward should increase as the manager employs more risk-reducing strategies as long as it involves profit making activities and monitoring technology becomes more accurate. However, when effort is at peak, monetary incentives may no longer be appropriate.
