Equilibrium prices in a vertically coordinated fishery

Article Abstract:

Competition among autonomous fish processing companies was examined. The consumer market prices and equilibrium ex-vessel in a fishery which is under a total allowable catch (TAC) policy, which is an important feature of the market, were also identified. It was shown that Nash equilibrium prices are based on vertical market stages. Equilibrium prices are Walrasian when there are more processors. The marginal valuation of the round fish by processors is close to the ex-vessel price and the quantity of processed fish is cleared by the consumer price.
