Statistics show PE pipe shipments up in 1999

Article Abstract:

The 1999 Statistical Review from the Plastics Pipe Institute showed that North American shipments of polyethylene pipe, tube and conduit totaled 1.4 billion pounds in 1999, an 18.8% increase from 1998 shipments of 1.2 billion pounds. The report provided estimates in pounds of volume of pipe, tubing and conduit shipped to five market segments including water, gas distribution, oil/gas production, industrial sewers and export/other markets.

Facility to generate its own heat and power from digester gas

Ocean outfall reduces river valley contamination

Article Abstract:

South Bay Ocean Outfall in San Diego, CA, a $160-million tunnel designed to solve the problem of untreated sewage that enters through the Tijuana River Valley in Mexico and pollutes the area's beaches, has been completed. The 3.6-mile tunnel, which began construction in Sep 1995, was financed by the City of San Diego and the Environmental Protection Agency. The facility is capable of carrying from 174 million to 333 million gallons of untreated sewage daily.
