Dealing with herbicide residues in compost

Application of compost products from two facilities in eastern Washington state has resulted in poor vegetable growth because of herbicide contamination. An analysis of the problems and possible solutions are presented.

Exploring the economics of on-farm composting

Issues surrounding the use of on-farm composting are discussed. Four case studies are examined, looking at the benefits such as increased revenue and improvements to soil, and the extra costs incurred.
