How well do public programs help recycled product firms?

Article Abstract:

There are federal programs as well as state and regional assistance options to aid the nation's recycling business sector. However, an industry observer opined that these programs could aid the recycling sector more efficiently if they allocated the funds in a more systematic, coordinated manner. Nebraska, for example, distributes $8 million a year for recycling projects, yet the state has developed a plan to enhance the strategies for the development of the recycling market.

Managing the business side of composting operations

Article Abstract:

John Ferguson and his partner David Ivey's experiences in setting up Nature's Way Resources Inc reveal just how much capital is needed in setting up the kind of business that they went into. They started with an investment of $75,000 in May, 1994 but raised an additional $295,000 in stock offerings to friends and family. In 1998, they plan to offer more stocks in exchange for $6 million needed for expansion into four more locations.
