Finding a market for just about anything called waste

Article Abstract:

Triad Energy Resources founder Mike Daley states that the largest product his firm sells is humic acid, which is the basis for all its other products. He has never used traditional advertising to obtain business, but believes that his company has expanded 25% as a result of a listing in CalMAX, a free Web-based information service and quarterly catalogue published by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. His plans for the future include setting up a plant in Coos Bay, OR, to make fish meal from fish residuals and a liming material from oyster and clam shells.

Taking the headaches out of manure handling

Article Abstract:

The in-vessel composting system used at compost manufacturer W.B. Coburn & Sons produces compost from poultry manure, vegetable matter and feedstocks. The Canadian company owns a 240 by 48-foot deep-pit laying barn which is supplied with house manure sludge from on-site hen houses. An Automatic Compost-A-Matic in-vessel system has been in operation at the plant for four years. It produces over 500 tons of compost per annum, sold at around 45 Canadian dollars per 400 pound load.
