Senate bill boosts water suppliers' fears over arsenic standard

Article Abstract:

Local drinking water officials are condemning House and Senate representatives who are trying to force the Environmental Protection Agency to restore a rule for arsenic in drinking water. The current standard for arsenic in drinking water is 50 parts per billion, and the new rule, approved during the Clinton Administration lowered the standard to 10 parts per billion.

EPA ties nonpoint grants to voluntary development of TMDL plans

Article Abstract:

Information about the expected regulation change by the EPA regarding impaired waters and daily maximum daily loads regulations. The EPA is expected to drop the requirement due to the expensive, time consuming nature of the regulation and the fact that it could not be implemented by the time the total maximum daily loads legislation was to be enacted.
