A macro view at Microsoft: Orlando Ayala aims to expand the global tech giant's reach

Article Abstract:

Orlando Ayala, the chief operating officer of Microsoft Business Solutions, has stepped into one of the global tech giant's most influential and high-pressure positions and aims to map a global strategy for tapping the next frontier for technology, which are small and mid-size. He has to face lots of challenges, including fending off competition from open-source software and developing solutions for an immense market that has vastly varying needs, in order to accomplish his mission.

Entrepreneurs and community leaders gathered in Beverly Hills for the 15th Annual Hispanic Business Magazine EOY (Entrepreneur of the year) awards gala in 2006 where David Hernandez, CEO of Florida-based Liberty Power won the 2005 EOY award trophy. The gala to honor Hispanic business-builders came after a full day of discussions about access to capital in the US Hispanic economy that included CEOs and financial market specialists.
