Era of the entrepreneur: growth in small businesses continues to anchor the U.S. mainstream and Hispanic communities

Article Abstract:

It is estimated that Hispanic Americans will own 2 million companies and businesses by the year 2000. These represent $221 billion of the GDP. California leads the nation with 481, 787 businesses, with Texas, Florida, and New York in second, third and fourth places. While the Hispanic population grew at annual rate of 3.9% between 1980 to the year 2000, Hispanic entrepreneurs formed new companies at a rate of 10.7% during the same 20 years.
