Their piece of the rock ridge

Article Abstract:

Hurricane Andrew's fury in 1992 struck hardest in the Redland, the part of Dade County adjacent to the Everglades and one of the the few repositories for many native plants. Two couples who nurtured trees and other plants there have taken different tacks on seeing them destroyed. Naturalist Roger Hammer and his wife Lisa, a horticulturalist, turned to native hardwoods to replace their avocados, and created a pond. Barbara and Terry Glancy saw 3000 rare slach pines ruined, but hope to restore the habitat.
