Hispanic business stock index debuts

Article Abstract:

Hispanic Business Inc. will launch the Hispanic Business Stock Index to track the vitality of this US sub-economy. The methods used to calculate data follows methodology used in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index, focusing on weighted market capitalization. This index, comprised of a much smaller group of companies than other indexes, is expected to fluctuate.

California's biggest Hispanic businesses are active in a wide range of sectors, including auto dealing, manufacturing and health care. The combined revenue of the state's top 100 Hispanic companies amounted to $2.98 billion in 1999, with the service sector being the largest.

The Florida 100

Florida 100 highlights the first 100 Hispanic-owned firms which cover an economic force with $5.67 billion in cumulative revenues. These firms stretch as far as the Latin Americas to the Carribean islands. The service sector tops the 100 list headed by the Vincam Group.
