SBA in the hot seat: Shrinking numbers spark fierce controversy among business advocates.

Article Abstract:

The budget of the Small Business Administration (SBA) has decreased 38% since 2001, and the opposing opinions regarding the reasons for the shrinkage have become fuel for an increasingly hot political fire. Critics point to fiscal management by the Bush administration that forced budget reductions in this small agency, while there is also a call for the resignation of the SBA Administrator Hector Barretto, partly due to the temporary closure of the agency's 7(a) loan program.

Shrinking divide

Article Abstract:

Advertising executives say that historical ad-price gap between English- and Spanish-language advertising is rapidly shrinking. The shrinkage in the gap is attributed to the faster increase in the cost per thousand (CPM) of Hispanic market compared to the general market due to better audience measurement and a higher profile for Hispanic media companies.
