The French connection

Article Abstract:

Sol Trujillo, the CEO of Orange Inc., a multinational wireless company owned largely by France Telecom, shares his plan to revamp the worldwide cell phone industry. Trujillo feels that the wireless providers must offer more services to increase the usage by wireless phone subscribers, and believes that wireless telephony, the Internet, and private data networks should be integrated to increase revenue.

For example, the number of Hispanic CEOs increased as Robert Glynn became chairman of PG and E Corp, Pope Paul II visited Cuba, the Sec of Energy Federico Pena resigned , and Californians voted to bring bilingual education programs to a halt. These and other events are presented.

Proposition 209 passed, but the law, which is designed to end affirmative action in California, suffers from ambiguous and deceptive wording. Seventy-eight percent of Hispanic Americans in California voted against 209.
