Mexican President Vicente Fox, during a visit to Washington, D.C., remarked that he felt reassured that Mexican-U.S. relations would not falter due to the terrorism attacks on September 11, 2001. President Bush added that he would not allow these attacks to halt the cooperation on trade and bilateral issues between the two countries.

Building bridges- not walls- between California and Mexico

Local government officials and various business groups in California have been delegating missions to Mexico in an effort to boost the two region's political and economic ties. Mexico is one of the US' major trade partners, accounting for $67.5 billion export sales in 1996.
