Working mothers who took time off from their careers to care for their children often find it difficult to return to the full-time labor force. Many such women benefit from taking the first bona fide job offer that they receive, to re-establish their credibility with employers.

They shouldn't ask

Article Abstract:

Interviewing managers should not ask discriminatory questions of childbearing-age women. It is appropriate to ask whether travel or overtime will be a problem, but certain specific inquiries can be illegal. Interviewees should not misrepresent their time constraints.
