Affiliative and instrumental marital discord, mother's negative affect, and children's negative interactions with unfamiliar peers

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between marital discord and the mother-child affective processes on how children reacted to unfamiliar peers. The authors, measuring the levels of negativity of the children, conclude marital discord and maternal negativity is associated with children's negativity with peers.

Child characteristics as moderators of the association between family stress and children's internalizing, externalizing, and peer rejection

Article Abstract:

This article examines children's coping strategies to family stress and the relationship to peer rejection. The authors maintain children who experienced a high amount of family stress were significantly?less well-accepted by their peers, however, this was not related to a?child's coping strategies or age.

Provider perspectives on outcome goals for children's day treatment

Article Abstract:

The results of a study on day treatment services for children with mental health issues are examined. The study describes the goals a day treatment center should have and factors that contribute to meeting those goals, including center programming and environment.
