It can be difficult to be consistent with children when someone else cares for them. Whether the person is a professional caregiver, a relative or a friend, cooperation between them and the parents is important to achieve consistency and be able to enforce established rules and rituals.

Teaching kids right from wrong

Article Abstract:

Teaching children ethics may be managed by setting an example, teaching empathy, staying out of kids' fights, staying fair and being strict but non-aggressive. Teaching kids morals will help kids make intelligent decisions in the future.

When kids feel guilty

Article Abstract:

At age 5 or 6, children begin to develop empathy. Lectures about right and wrong from parents work better if they encourage the guilty child to consider consequences, to think ahead, and to reinforce feelings and techniques of honesty.
