To prevent a toddler's natural attempt to communicate from becoming constant, manipulative whining, first ignore the whining. Then invite the child to leave the room if he wants to whine, and suggest a better form of expressing need.

How to break the stroller habit

Parents should encourage their children to walk as soon as they are able to mange without the stroller. Some of the techniques they could use include hiding the stroller, complimenting their walking skills, bringing some of the child's friends and making a challenge out of the exercise.
