International adoptions: can love beat the odds?

US couples are finding that international adoptions can be fraught with problems. Many foreign children waiting for adoption come from orphanages and have developmental problems. Unfortunately, adoptive parents are often unable to gain significant information on an adoptive child's background.

The TMJ implant disaster

Implants made from Teflon material called Proplast designed to treat temporomandibular joint diseases have caused many patients to suffer immune disorders because the implant has shattered. Several case studies are examined. An analysis of how the product reached the market is presented.

Gambling is now a $500 billion a year industry in the US, and women are gambling more. Signs that one is a compulsive gambler include the inability to quit and lack of interest in other activities. Gamblers Anonymous has helped many overcome the problem.
