Article Abstract:

Intel Chmn and CEO Andrew S. Grove is the electronics industry's highest paid executive with a total of $97,937,400 in salary, bonuses and other compensations. $94.5 million of this was realized by exercising Grove's equity options, his annual salary is only $425,000. Second on the list of the top 40 electronics industry salaries in 1997 is Gateway 2000 Chmn and CEO Theodore W. Waitt, who realized $81.3 million in salary and benefits. Sterling Software placed five executives on the list, three of them in the top five. These include Chmn Sam Wyly, Pres and CEO Sterling L. Williams, and vice chairman Charles J. Wyly Jr. Only three executives on the list receive salaries of more than $1 million, these are Compaq CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, IBM Chmn and CEO Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Gerstner received the largest bonus, $3.27 million. The youngest executive on the list is Gateway's Theodore W. Waitt, at 34.

The architectural firm Davis, Brody & Associates has expanded its operations with the opening of its office in Paris, France. Alan Schwartzman, an FAIA member, has been chosen to head the Paris office. Schwartzman has already been granted membership with the French Ordewr of Architects.

Buying or renting a house or apartment can be a tough decision for young parents. House buying requires a large up-front investment, but it can be cheaper than renting in the long run. Potential buyers should be committed to stay for several years.
