Use of services prior to and following intensive family preservation services

Article Abstract:

This article provides an evaluation of intensive family preservation services (IFPS), a short term service that provides support to families who have at least one child who is facing out-of-home placement. The author maintains IFPS have been considered by many of its critics as ineffective due to the short duration of the service, but states IFPS therapists often direct families to more individualized services.

Treatment Foster Care in a system of care: sequences and correlates of residential placements

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates Treatment Foster Care for children with mental disorders and aggressive behavior. The authors examined residential placements, comparing the outcomes with group homes or residential treatment, and maintain the results are inconclusive and more research must be conducted.

Helping children access and use services: a review
