Afro-American athletes have once again brought glory to the US by their remarkable performance in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Gail Devers won the 100 meter dash in a record time of 10.82 seconds, despite suffering from an acute disease. Another major accomplishment in the women's track event was Jackie-Joyner Kersee's gold medal, this being her third successive gold in heptathlon. The male black athletes gave a remarkable performance, especially in the long jump event where all three medals were bagged by the Americans, Carl Lewis, Mike Powell and Joe Greene, respectively,
