Article Abstract:

A child's literacy development is helped when parents allow them a chance to write in their day-to-day interactions. Taking down phone messages and contributing to a grocery list lets them know that writing conveys messages. Some parental techniques for teaching a child to be confident, competing writers include avoiding drilling and drudgery, conversing constantly, answering the child's questions, and reading together every day.

Article Abstract:

Studies find that reading out loud to a child from the age of about 4 months make the child better able to master reading in the first grade. Fluent and independent leads to achievement in higher grades. The richness of words in written language exposes children to a more complex structure than spoken language. Frequent hearing of storybook plots allows children to predict book endings which makes reading easier for them.

A cozy spot of their own

Article Abstract:

Special spaces may be designed in the home to encourage children to snuggle up for reading time eagerly and frequently. A spot may be set up in the family room floor using pillows and stuffed animals. Small-scale furniture and sturdy books are good features.
