Sharif Hussein bin Ali

Sharif Hussein bin Ali, brother-in-law of the former Crown Prince of Iraq, Abd al-Ilah, moved between the UK, Switzerland and Italy after being forced into exile, but settled in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1964. He returned to live in the UK in 1976, and became a key figure among Iraqis in the UK seeking to create a democratic government with a constitutional monarchy. He participated in Iraq's political life on only two occasions, but played a significant role behind the scenes.
