Article Abstract:
The second phase of the $1 billion, 54-km Bang Na-Bang Phli-Bang Pakong Expressway (BBBE) in Bangkok, Thailand, was completed on time by using precast segmental technology and integrating design with construction. The expressway starts from the eastern edge of Bangkok on one end and goes all the way to Chon Buri at the other end. BBBE will be the world's longest expressway when it is completed by 2000. The expressway has three traffic lanes in each direction with emergency shoulders on the outside lane only. Access from the highway is provided by 13 pairs of on/off ramps.
