The shawl collar is described as face framing and foolproof, with few pattern pieces and no tricky points or intersecting corners. A shawl collar is actually a combined lapel and collar, the under collar is cut in one piece with the jacket front, the upper collar is cut in one with the front facing.

Mastering microfibers

Microfibers or polyester fibers are soft, water-resistant, durable fabrics used in making raincoats and jackets as well as knitted and woven garments. Microfiber is an abbreviated version of the term microdenier fiber. Microfibers are best preshrunk before cut and are difficult to press.
