Jamie Ritchie was named head of Sotheby's New York wine department at the age of 32. Ritchie's background includes a bachelor's degree from the City of London Polytechnic and employment at Brinkley's Restaurant Services. He hopes to use computers in auctions. His favorite wines are listed.

Wine lovers who visit London will want to go to an auction. The UK has a long history as a wine auction hub. Christie's and Sotheby's are the main auction houses, and Trapps will store wine for foreign visitors. Seabrook Export Services will ship wine.

Le Pin fades as 1982s hold steady

Article Abstract:

The Nov 16, 1996, wine auction held by Sherry-Lehman and Sotheby's in New York, NY, netted $1.63 million in sales. A case of 1985 Chateau Le Pin priced at about $12,000 to $18,000 did not sell, but 87% of the wines found buyers.
