Boom years may be over, but Napa auction gets a boost

At the Napa Valley Wine Auction, the Trinchero family headed the yearEs auction and contributed 655,000 dollars, which lifted the final tally to more than 6.4 million dollars. The proceeds from the auction would benefit a variety of health-care youth, housing and educational organizations in Napa country.

Taittinger heirs and French bank buy champagne firm

Article Abstract:

The Taittinger family heirs, along with French bank Credit Agricole du Nord Est have bought Taittinger Champagne from the American private-equity fund Starwood Capital Group. The 38 Taittinger heirs had sold Groupe Taittinger SA to Starwood in 2005, but were hoping to buy back the Champagne division.

Ornellaia stays in Tuscan hands

Article Abstract:

Italian producer Marchesi de' Frescobaldi has made a deal with Constellation Brands to buy Tuscany's Tenuta dell' Ornellaia on 1 April 2005. Frescobaldi is paying more than $45 million to take over the entire estate, which was co-owned by Robert Mondovi Corporation and Frescobaldi since 2002.
