California's missed opportunity

Article Abstract:

California, the largest wine producer in the United States, produces a range of inexpensive wines, but only a few are of great wine value. Value wines, that is, a good bottle of wine at a reasonable price, are those shipped from France, Australia and Italy, while California vintners, negligent of value, are losing the opportunity to improve current wine sales and also of laying a stronger foundation for their wines among present and future consumers.
