Garry Farrell: new beginning inspires Pinot Noir specialist

Garry Farrell has moved his winemaking operation into new premises after years of renting space in other wineries. Farrell produces a Merlot, a red Meritage and a Zinfandel as well as Pinot Noir.

The Peter Michael winery was established by Sir Peter Michael, an englishman who founded the radio station Classic FM and developed the first computer program for producing television graphics. The winery has just acquired 400 acres on the coast for the development of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Hanzell finds TCA taint in wines: Sonomy winery suspends sales of 2000 Chardonnay and 1999 Pinot Noir

Article Abstract:

Hanzell Vineyards suspended sales of its 2000 Chardonnay and 1999 Pinot Noir following the tests, which showed the presence of 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (TCA) in the Chardonnay and in the winery's cellar. People with higher thresholds may perceive the taint as an off flavor without being able to identify it as TCA.
