Wine and spirits offer few bargains at May auctions

Article Abstract:

The results of wine auctions in May 1999 were significant in that prices of spirits climbed greatly and wine prices continued their climb. Rare wines sold above price estimates as collectors purchased quality wines, while rare whiskeys sold well.

Big prices at wine auctions translate into record sales

Article Abstract:

Auction houses in the UK and US report record sales for the Sep 1995 through Jul 1996 period. Christie's had international sales of $26 million, and Zachys-Christie's in New York had sales of $6.9 million. Sotheby's sales are also discussed.
