Proving ground of the nuclear age

Article Abstract:

The destruction caused by nuclear tests conducted at the Nevada Test Site are evident from the barren lands, ravaged towers and buildings. Vast expanses of land have been rendered useless by the experiments conducted for nearly 40 years by researchers during the Cold War between the West and the former Soviet Union and its allies. Archaeologists from the University of Nevada and the State Historic Preservation Office have taken steps to preserve certain artifacts that bear testimony to the ravages of atomic tests.
