Surprising the French at their wine olympics

Article Abstract:

The 1997 binennial Vinalies Internationales has been organized to allow a panel of international judges to evaluate over 1,000 wines from different countries. The event has allowed enologists to truly appreciate new wines from numerous countries. Several specific wines are discussed.

At one time an experienced taster could identify a wine's country of origin, but this is no longer the case. Many vintners are using the same grape varieties and trying to make their wines taste the same as those from other countries.

Travel to Britain for good, inexpensive California wine

The UK is the place to go for bargain-priced California wine which can cost as low as 4.99 pounds sterling. These wines are blends which are nevertheless well worth their cost and not dull-tasting as many would think.
