The fight over foie gras: A firsthand look at the production of this embattled luxury food

Article Abstract:

Activists are calling for the luxury food foie gras or 'fat liver' to be banned, due to the supposed force-feeding of geese and ducks to enlarge their livers for producing the delicacy. The feeding of the birds is done in a very humane way, and it is suggested that the poor conditions of animals at meat and poultry farms should be focused on rather than foie gras farms.
