Dietary fish protein modulates high density lipoprotein cholesterol and lipoprotein lipase activity in rabbits

Article Abstract:

Postheparin plasma lipoprotein lipase and hepatic triglyceride lipase activities were measured in rabbits to determine the pathways by which fish protein feeding affect high density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism. It was shown that fish protein regulates lipoprotein lipase activity in rabbits thereby affecting HDL metabolism. Fish protein increases HDL cholesterol concentration, total and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol concentrations while it decreases amounts of very low density lipoproteins.

Metabolism and disposition of erythritol after oral administration to rats

Article Abstract:

The distribution and kinetics of erythritol after oral and intravenous administration was analyzed in rats by measuring urine, fecal and blood levels. of radiolabeled erythritol /(sup)14C erythritol~. Upon analysis, 90% of ingested erythritol was excreted unchanged via urine and the remaining 10% was degraded to CO2 and short chain fatty acids by colonic fermentation. Thus Erythritol, a sugar substitute, is excreted unchanged in the urine after oral and intravenous administration.
