Article Abstract:

The US Dept of Agriculture has launched a cooking show video series called 'Healthy Traditions' through its FoodWise Project to deliver workshops on low-fat cooking and eating to recipients of federal food assistance programs. 'Healthy Traditions' was conceptualized by the agency in cooperation with the Contra Costa County Health Services Dept in California to help ethnic viewers learn low-fat cooking techniques. The video includes three 28-minute segments, namely, the Flavors of African America, the Flavors of Mexico and the Flavors of Asia. It features local chefs and is hosted by California Culinary Academy dietitian and chef instructor Patricia Hart.
