Election will determine US economy's growth rate
Article Abstract:
At the April 24-27, 1996, Woodworking Industry Conference, consultant John Albertine warned that high long-term interest rates and a potential Democratic sweep of the 1996 general election could diminish future economic prospects. Albertine predicted that the growth rate through 1996 would remain around 2.6%, but projected a decline to 1.5% in 1997 if Democrats win both the presidency and congress. He predicted lower interest rates and continued economic growth between 2% and 3% if Republicans sweep the election.
