The mechanisms of management control at the New York Times

Article Abstract:

Several specific instances of apparent management control at the New York Times are examined in this article. These instances include the subtle but insistent influence of former Times publisher Arthur Hays Sulzberger with regard to editorials, the dogmatism and loss of objectivity attained by former editor A.M. Rosenthal, the censorship of material sent from field reporter Herbert Mathews, and the management's maintenance of its ideology through the process of hiring and firing.

Shaped electronic substrates in low-temperature co-fired ceramics

Article Abstract:

The use of low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology (LTCC) has been extended by GEC-Marconi into an interconnection technology able to mount and connect electronic components in three-dimensional space. The process combines ceramic technology with flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs). Methods of shaping the substrates are considered and design rules and their limitations are described.
