Justice O'Connor joined the 5-4 vote to help decide the 2000 presidential election, just as she has been and will be the deciding vote on many of the divisive issues of life in the United States. Her power is expected to grow even greater if she becomes the next Chief Justice.

In lieu of manners

Article Abstract:

The litigiousness of society shows a lack of respect for the court system and is polarizing people. The addition of laws designed to make society safer end up restricting people's freedoms and less able to be governed. The government has discredited itself with its actions.
