A test cuts cancer risk

Article Abstract:

A slightly uncomfortable, yet simple test called sigmoidoscopy has been proven effective in the early detection of colon and rectal cancer. Periodic examination of people over 50 years of age can result in a 59% to 70% decrease in deaths related to colon and rectal cancer.

Fragile X test

Article Abstract:

A new test for the fragile X genetic defect, using a single drop of blood, has been developed. The test, which looks for a specific gene that causes the retardation, gives would-be mothers greater information at their fingertips.
