Article Abstract:

In 1980 200 boxes of ephemera compiled by the YIVO were found in an abandoned Catholic church in Vilnius. The Lithuanians refused to send them to the YIVO in NY. Finally the poems, letters, news of pogroms and other papers were sent for translation in NY but were to be returned to Lithuania.
