Fossils can provide invaluable information for scientists. For example, fossil discoveries indicate that meat-eating dinosaurs may have actually been nurturing animals and that climactic changes may have occurred millions of years ago. Scientific instruments are often used to study the fossils.

Attack of the killer algae

Article Abstract:

A unique type of algae has been discovered by scientists that likes to feed on fish and is toxic to humans and animals. A slimy mixture was developed by scientists accidentally that can absorb pollutants in the water. Certain sea sponges have developed long hooks to help capture tiny creatures.

RoboTuna to the rescue

Article Abstract:

David Barrett has designed RoboTuna, a fish-like robotic submarine that uses a side-to-side motion to propel itself. It can conduct underwater research for months at a time. Researchers have also developed a robotic lobster to fight pollution and a robotic crab to blow up underwater mines.
