Better pies for a better America

Article Abstract:

A pie-lover laments that real good-tasting, homemade pies are currently hard to find in New England. He only remembers a couple of good-tasting pies he had tasted in Putney, VT in 1972 and in Eastport, MN in 1988. Recipes of real homemade pies are presented.

Cool weather glories

Many plants and vegetables do better in the cooler climate of New England than they would in places where it is warmer longer. Tips on growing some of these, including annual asters, potatoes, lettuce, snapdragons, peas and sweet peas are included.
