Diary of a rookie teacher
Article Abstract:
The personal narrative of a newly qualified teacher is presented. Life in a public elementary school set in a poor area is described. By being sympathetic to the social problems that the children have outside school the teacher is able to develop a rapport that sustains their academic interest.
