Digging for dinosaurs

Boy Scouts learn about paleontology through the Wyoming Dinosaur Center's Kids' Dig. Participants use knives to carefully chip rocks near Thermopolis, WY, where researchers discovered dinosaur bones in 1993. Days sometimes elapse between finds.

Island of the red apes

A trip to Camp Leakey in Tanjung Puting National Park in Borneo to observe the orangutans who live in the forests is described. Most of the world's wild orangutans live on Borneo, and their habitat is threatened by lumber activities.

The tiny dinosaurs of Madagascar

Madagascar has almost half the world's species of chameleons. The lizards change colors according to mood and air temperature and use color to communicate with other chameleons.
