Article Abstract:

Kelley Sperry, a thirteen year old, was subjected to considerable ridicule at her school in Westminister, Colorado because of Parry-Romberg Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that has disfigured her face. However, Sperry has found more tolerant friends at Windsor Middle School and is more at ease now.

Sailors' valentines

Article Abstract:

Saliors' Valentines, originated in the mid-1800s, are pieces of exotic shell art given by sailors to their sweethearts upon returning home from long voyages at sea. Valentines were most often housed in hinged, octagonal wooden boxes resembling compass cases, usually with a heart-shaped lock.
