Fifty years of economic change

Article Abstract:

Australia has a much more balanced economy since its dependence on primary industries in 1901. Australia is still a producer of wool, wheat, meat, butter, and others, but most of the production comes from new technology, manufacturing, and commerce. Consequently, Australia is ready to compete for foreign market shares with America and Europe. It has reached its highest levels of self-sufficiency and is determined to make improvements for the country and the people.

Last Days At The Leprosarium: A Louisiana hospital, home to leprosy patients for more than 100 years, is closing its doors. Once held here against their will, many don't want to leave

Article Abstract:

The Gillis W. Long Hansen's Disease Center, in Carville, LA, which has treated and housed patients of leprosy since the 1920s, is closing its doors. Many of the patients are skeptical about leaving the facility because of the treatment they may receive in public about their appearance and the fact that they have spent most of their lives at the facility.
