From Bunker Hill to Bosnia

Article Abstract:

The role of women in the US military is changing, they no longer work solely nurses or clerks but can take on a whole range of duties. Some 40,000 women took part in the Persian Gulf War. A memorial is being set up at the Arlington National Cemetery in recognition of the women who have been enlisted since World War I. The Women In Military Service for America memorial will include an education centre to inform the public of the work of women in the military. Some 1.8 million women have served in the military but their contribution has been largely ignored.
