Business executive Verlyn Roskam was able to realize his dream of going to Wentworth Military Academy through the support of a benevolent Iowa couple. When he became successful in his chosen career, he founded the Educational Assistance Limited which provided scholarships to poor but deserving youths.

The Educational Assistance Ltd (EAL) gives financial assistance to deserving underprivileged students. It was founded in 1982 by Verlyn Roskam as a tribute to the generous couple who financed his education. EAL has extended educational aid to more than 1,300 students since then.
