BUDPROG: An Automated Budget Preparation Procedure

Article Abstract:

An automated program designed by the School of Engineering and Applied Science of the University of Virginia to aid faculty in providing budget preparation is explained. Background of the University's reasearch organization is provided. Numerical data on faculty, grants, accounts and proposals are given. The BUDPROG program were specifically developed to aid in proposal budget preparations. The components of the BUDPROG system are described in depth. A sample printout is included in the text. Statistical results for manual time versus automated time indicate a time saving range of fifty to ninty-two percent using automation for budget proposal preparation. Overall accuracy and affordability are also advantages of the BUDPROG system. A table of the statistical results is included.
